A 107-year-old woman born on April 14, 1915, underwent a successful angioplasty procedure at SSB Heart and Multispecialty Hospital. After suffering a massive heart attack, the patient was admitted to the hospital on January 21, 2023.
Dr. Shyam Sundar Bansal, founder and CMD of SSB Healthcare, and his team performed angiography in the cath lab the same day the patient was admitted. The patient's proximal LAD was a 99 percent blockage due to a large clot. The team performed a life-saving angioplasty procedure, inserting a balloon and stent into the blocked artery with her family's consent.
As a result of the procedure, the patient's condition stabilized, and she was kept under observation for one day in the Coronary Care Unit. She was discharged the following day in good health. According to Dr. SS Bansal, this case demonstrates that even the oldest patients can be saved through timely action and expert intervention.
This landmark success at SSB Hospital, Faridabad, highlights nonsurgical heart attack treatment advancements and demonstrates that technology and expertise have advanced to the point that even elderly patients with complex anatomy can be successfully treated with nonsurgical methods such as angioplasty and stenting. As a result of this success, it is important to seek expert care and act promptly in the case of a heart attack.
